Earlier this year I started to build a small team. We are developing a platform for designing services and the promises and contracts that underpin them. We are launching this platform loaded with high-quality content next summer, working closely with a team in the Dutch government. It’s an exciting venture that requires the team team to be very imaginative with their analytical skills.
So I put together an aptitude test that measures the ability to “think like a lawyer, write like a poet”. The test starts with questions based on analogy-making then goes on to problem structures and patterns. The examples the test uses are everyday systems and services that make up any society. The difficulty lies in looking at the world and see things others don’t see, going beyond what is obvious or appears on the surface. Do you truly understand what makes prison a prison?
The test takes anywhere between two to three hours if the test taker takes time to think (as they should). It offers a mix of multiple choice questions with little bit of writing to share reasonings. There is an option of a written submission (because being able to write well is a valuable skill to have). The test is difficult but fun. It is not target at a particular discipline or profession. Someone has already asked me if they could use it recruit for sales teams. Didn’t expect that.
